The Indian cricket team has been granted a two-day break following their victory over New Zealand in Dharamsala on Sunday (October 22). The team will travel to Lucknow, their next destination for the World Cup, on Wednesday (October 25) after enjoying a couple of days off in the picturesque hill town in the state of Himachal Pradesh.
A spokesman for the team confirmed to Cricbuzz on Monday (October 23) that the team will travel to Lucknow on October 25. At the moment, there are no scheduled practice or net sessions (optional or regular) planned. India is set to face England in Lucknow on October 29.
India are currently leading the points table with five wins in as many games. They have four more matches to play — that against England in Lucknow on October 29, against Sri Lanka in Mumbai on November 2, against South Africa in Kolkata on November 5, and against the Netherlands in Bengaluru on November 12.
Meanwhile, there is no information available regarding the availability of Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder who is currently undergoing treatment for an ankle injury sustained in the match against Bangladesh, at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that there are no plans to announce a replacement, and the all-rounder is expected to be fully fit for the England game.
Pandya twisted his ankle while bowling against Bangladesh in Pune on October 19, which led to his exclusion from the squad for the Dharamsala game. An informed source stated, “It is only a sprain and nothing serious. He should be available for selection in the Lucknow match.”
Additionally, it has been confirmed that Ishan Kishan, who was stung by an insect before the New Zealand game, is also in good health.
